Current UCSB student seeking transfer advice

Hi, I’m currently a freshmen at UCSB. Certain personal reasons have caused a need for me to move closer to home next year. While I am not completely opposed to going to community college, I would really like to continue going to a UC. UC Davis, being the one of the closest UCs to me, would be ideal for this situation, as I can stay relatively close to home (1 hour vs. 6 hours) but still go to a school of equal academic status. Right now, I am an Environmental Studies major, but I am still unsure of that. I’ve been succeeding academically so far, I got a 3.9 last quarter taking relatively challenging courses (Chem+Lab, Calc II, Enviro Studies 1, and a seminar). In addition, I have enough AP credits that I would be a Junior by the end of this year.

So, I was wondering if there was anyone I could contact about possibly switching schools, or if anyone knows anything about this. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

You seem to be in good standing, but its hard to say whether or not you’ll be able to to transfer as more CC students are coming in. You can apply for the Spring 2010 semester and explain your situation in one of your essays.

BUT, don’t take my word for it, contact your school’s counselor and explain your situation to them.

I hope everything works out.

Well, I’m pretty sure they don’t accept applicants for the Spring quarter, and the filing deadline for the Fall 2010 quarter is way past. More than anything, I was just asking if there is any accommodations for students who have certain circumstances that they need to move closer to home.

Despite that, I did see on the admissions website for all the UCs that they might be accepting applications for Winter 2011. Does anyone know about this?
