So is the VanLaundry service mandatory? I thought it wasn’t, but the form says “please select [a laundry plan] and return this form in the envelope provided.”

Totally optional, you only return the form if you want laundry service.

No one we know has used the laundry service. Seems like a waste of money–by this point in their lives, young adults need to learn to do their own laundry.

Anyone know if they’ve closed their waitlist?

How long of a cable wire is needed in the dorm room and is the Ethernet cable necessary or is the wireless system pretty reliable? Also, did you feel having a printer in your room made sense or did you not have to print often enough to make it worthwhile bringing it? Thanks!

The wireless is highly reliable. I have heard of very small number of rooms with spotty coverage, though I believe the house can provide ethernet cables. If you want your own, the length just depends on where you decide to put your desk relative to the cable jack. Desks are not stationary.

Everyone has their own opinion on printers. It is of course convenient to have a printer, but very easy to survive without one. Totally personal preference. There are printers on Commons and all over campus that print at 5 cents a page, charged to your Commodore Cash account.

If you have a class T 2:10-5:00 and one MW 3:10-4:25 what day/time is your exam in Dec? I cant figure those two out. Also, it looks like I booked my son’s flight to return to school after Thanksgiving on Sat. but the dorms don’t open until Sun. Is this going to be a problem?

@momthreeboys. To answer the second part of your question, if you speak with your area cordinator or fill out a page online, you can request to stay for the week of thanksgiving so if your son does this he can arrive early.

Thanks @thejedo

@momthreeboys. Pertaining to you question about exams, the Tuesday Exam will most likely be on December 13th at 3:00PM. The Monday/Wednesday Exam will (certainly) take place on December 12th at 3:00PM. In addition, the respective professors may decide to observe the alternate exams dates. Usually, this is the case if students express interest. Nevertheless, you can confirm this information with your s/d after syllabi have been uploaded on OAK or circulated on the first day of classes.

Thank you @enkidu9193
