I’m a senior in high school, applying to many different vocal performance programs. I’d really like a sort of “week in the life of” snapshot of a VP major at Curtis. I heard somewhere that they send their VP students up to the Met? I can’t seem to find anything that isn’t a rumor or waaayyy outdated
Thanks!
Curtis is a long shot on anyone’s application list because they may accept 1 or 2 a year, or none, depending upon whether or not they have an opening for your voice type and you won’t know that in advance.
Their students don’t study at the Met nor do they send anymore grads to the Lindemann program than any other school, so I don’t know what you’re referring to with your question.
My D was in the VP finals last year at The Curtis Institute. @Mezzo’sMama is absolutely correct.
For the past 2 years the only females accepted have been Mezzo’s. One each year. Who knows what this year will bring?
My D has a friend who is in her 2nd year at Curtis. She does not study at The Met.
I beg to differ on the mezzos. We know a soprano who started at Curtis fall 2014 who is a spinto.
Yes @vivasolar, but Fall 2014 is not 2015 or 2016.
fall 2016 5 freshmen 2 boys one tenor, don’t know other. 3 girls, 1 soprano, 2 mezzos
