Curve for JAN 08

@plisk10: I got 3 wrong and omitted 5 questions, and got 1-2 wrong on the Short Answer and ended up with a 680 on the December 2007 SAT. I don't think you can get over a 700 with 6 wrong and omits.

do you think you can get over 700 with ~4 wrong (2 were gridin) and 2 omits

and it has happened before, my friend got an 800 on SAT math with 2 wrong.

I officially hate math so much that it has a good curve(illogical, I know). Believe me, I did not freak out during the test, and was very relaxed, since I'd take 5 full-timed BB practice tests before. However, the math sections (all of them!) were MUCH harder than the practice tests, unlike reading and writing, which were pretty similar.

Math HAS to have a good curve...

Is Jan test just historically harder with a better curve?

I could swear, none of the math questions in BB was as hard as the ones on the test today (though I still think I did well). Anyone thought the CR as harder than usual as well? It wasn't too terrible, but I still felt CR today was just harder than the ones in BB(especially towards the end...) WR was average; Easy essay topic, slightly harder MC.

Please predict my score:
CR: about 10-12 wrong
Writing: about 6-10 wrong (9-10 essay)
math: 3-4 wrong
no skip can I get a score range around 50 points? thanks

god...i hope math has a good curve. like flux_capacitor i wish -2 is still 800.=/

Oh, I wish math has a good curve. I may have made a mistake in the grid-ins and I hope the rest is correct. It's the only section I am really proud of..... and CR is the opposite (for me). Bombed it and.... did veeery bad. If it has a good curve, I may be saved a little. I just wish I could say like some of you: CR was easy for me daydreams I'm an International student and I totally hate it! XD

..emm... I thought so... Easy CR = Horrible Curve, which equals out the significant score increase.. Damn CB

Yeah...I hated the math. I mean, I've never even seen a question where the answer was "not enough information". What was that???

Yay, one raw point for me.

By the way, I have totally fried my brains today because of the SAT.

Critical reading 10-12 wrong (570-610?)
Writing 6 - 10 wrong (Big Difference) 620-720
Math 3-4 wrong 730-750

IMO:

The CR curve will be so bad, that a -5 would put you in the high 600s, or low 700s (like 700-720).

The Math curve is probably very generous. I think even with -7, you could pull off a low 700.

Writing should be about -5 w/essay 10~12 to get like a 700+

why would CR be so bad? it was difficult so wouldn't the curve be generous?

that's what i thought too, spazattack. In my opinion, just for the poem translation passage, the curve for CR should be typical if not generous. I've done 7/8 tests from BB, and I didn't think any of thoes tests was harder than the Jan test (again, mostly for that particular passage).

whats the normal scale and how much does it ususally deviate?

SunPenguin and Spaz, I completely agree with you about the poem passage (if it weren't for this, I'd be almost certain I got a 750+), but I'm not expecting a generous curve JUST because of that one passage. I certainly hope so, but I don't expect it.

yea i thought the CR was hardest, like always. I think I overestimated/overanalyzed the sentence completion section...>-2 x[
I really hope they give a generous curve pllzzzzzz =/

The math section can be understandably hard for some but not impossible. (I've been doing Mu Alpha Theta for 5 years and billions of practice questions so I've pretty much seen every question type on the SAT math...) Writing I got a bunch of Es on the ID errors in a row so that freaked me out.

yeah, you got your point, kowloon. But still, that one passage makes a "huge" difference (even you said yourself, you would have been sure to get 750+ w/o it), so i still think that passage balances the whole section more towards the hard side (as opposed to the more typical difficulty, shown by the rest of the section).

^let's pray you're right :)

math usually have the worst curve. i wouldn't expect to have 700+ when i have either omit/wrong more than 6questions

Writing was difficult for me. Probably because my brain was going numb but there were 3 questions in a row where I thought it was no error, but then I was like, "Nahhh... theres got to be something awkward here" and changed them. :(((
