curve?? how many can I miss?

Awesome, and i apologize for incorrectly correcting you :)

Impossible to miss 8-10 and get a 800 no matter what the essay. The max. anyone has ever missed, if im not wrong, is 3, 12 essay for 800. And no you can't miss 5-6, 12 essay and get a 780. The mc counts for 70% of your writing score, and taking into account how the harsh the mc curve is, missing 5-6 would yeald a 68 and a 12 essay to go along with that would make it a 720 at most.

Yeah, there is something really ****ed about all of octal0de's curve predictions.

How many do I have to miss to get a 600 on all 3 sections?

Wait, when someone says "3 wrong", do they mean 3 incorrect answers or 3 questions left blank???

3 incorrect answers not 3 omit

go by the first number. For example, if you miss 5, raw score of 43, expect a 67 not a 72.

I was assuming the midpoint of the ranges in the blue book so if it says 700-800 I thought it would usually be a 750 and the range means that on another test you'd get between 700-800 like it has on the PSAT.

Usually certain parts of the test have stricter/less strict curves.

That was for the writing.

According to my charts, missing three off the raw score. So two questions wrong and one omitted, one question wrong and two omitted, or three questions omitted.

They aren't predictions. They are just the extrema of the curve: the best/worst case scenarios published in the Blue Book.

The charts are in the Blue Book. They are valid for every SAT. Just because it hasn't been curved that way in the past doesn't mean it can't be in the future. The curve doesn't care about the quality of the essay: it's not like a "super duper 12" would make more of a difference in the score, the curve only cares about the score distribution of other test-takers.

Hey guys I am fairly new to this site and have a question regarding posting. How do I quote someone in a gray box (like the person did in the above post) ???

^ it's at the bottom

Wow, this thread has helped me a lot. Could someone help me with scoring?

I just took the SAT's and I'm guessing I missed 5 or 6 on the Math, omitted like 5, I think...or maybe 4. I made careless mistakes...

On the Verbal, I think I got two wrong and omitted 3 or 4.

Writing, let's assume I missed three, and omitted 2.

What would my math and verbal composites be? I'm anxious and cannot wait till May 29, 2006.

Surely getting two wrong on anything will still get you full marks because they round up the raw score?

I had a terrible math day. What would 15 omits give yeah, if you only have 1 or two questions as a wrong answer?

Does anyone have the curve for the April SATs or any of the past months so we can do some comparisons?

I have the SAT curve for the January test.

CR:
800 800 800 780 760 750 730 720 710 700
Math:
800 800 780 760 740 730 720 710 700

silvermoon, is this corresponding with decreasing raw score?

so, in January, one wrong math - 800?
