I submitted my commonapp to a few schools. However, when looking at the supplement for another school, I realized that the personal statement I wrote would work perfect for their supplement, while the supplement I wrote for another school would work well in place of my original personal statement.

Is it specifically prohibited/frowned upon to change essays after you've already submitted one version of the common app?

I’m fairly sure you can’t change the CommonApp after you’ve submitted it anyway. Write the supplement and move on.

Yes, you can definitely customize the common app. After you have submitted one application, you can create up to 10 versions. Go to the Help section for details and scroll down till you find “alternate applications”. It’s really straight-forward.

You can make changes, but I’m pretty sure that after you’ve submitted it it’s too late for that school… You could probably still send it to them saying you’d like them to look at that one, but I’m not sure if they would accept that or not…
