Id need advice about the resume/CV I'm about to upload for my PhD applications. Do I include all jobs I've held, or just the field-related ones? Do I need to include all activities and awards? Does it need to fit nicely on one page?

Unless they specify, I think 2 pages is probably okay… if you actually need it. That having been said, unless the program specifies it your resume should only include those items that you think advance your position, and that usually means relevant experience and awards only.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Most applications aren’t asking for specific things. There’s just a spot to upload a CV. The reason I ask is because all my relevant stuff fits nicely on one page right now. If I add all the other stuff like the irrelevant summer jobs (I worked at the Apple Store for 3 college summers), which I obviously talk about nowhere else, it’ll be a little over a page… :(

double post

A resume includes all jobs; a cv only includes jobs pertinent to your academic goals. A cv also includes activities and awards you’ve received in college that are relevant to your academic goals.

Thanks for making that nice distinction. I actually never realized that. I’ll keep all this in mind when I edit my CV. :)
