I am a rising junior trying to join a lab for undergraduate research. I need to compose a CV but this would be my first research experience so I'm not sure what should go on it. My only lab experience so far has been in class.

I worked before starting my degree but I'm not sure if it's appropriate to include the work I did in the transportation industry since it's not really relevant to microbiology.

Do I include my previous employment? If not what do I include?

I assume they are not expecting a large amount of relevant experience from a rising junior trying to join an undergraduate research lab.

Outline your class lab experiences, instruments and methods used, relevant courses you’ve taken (I’m not sure about your field, but perhaps statistics/analysis, or whatever is equivalent to understand the research process in your field; also, any courses relevant to the topic of the lab you’re trying to join). Any certificates, awards, or scholarships you’ve received. If you’re a member of a club/organization in your field. You may want to ask your advisor or a trusted professor for more tips for your specific field.
