Cville Police Investigation Finds No Evidence that a Rape Occurred at Phi Psi Fraternity

No kidding. The whole matter was a disgrace…hopefully the fraternity and the effected parties will pursue civil remedies against Rolling Stone and other individuals.

This was an example of conviction and execution by the media and interest groups. No need to investigate and seek out the facts in such cases.

What continues to absolutely amaze me is that Rolling Stone has never pulled the story from their website. Even today, it is there, with Phi Psi’s name prominently displayed across the top of the graphic as the location of the 9 person gang rape. They added a weak disclaimer, but never retracted the article. I’m not an attorney, but the fact that RS never tried to fix their obvious mistakes certainly would seem to be persuasive to a jury. I wonder what Phi Psi will do with the magazine once they are awarded all of its assets.

People will be studying this as a case study in journalism classes for many years to come. I hope the reporter knows how to make lattes, so she can support herself.

While I don’t believe in frivolous lawsuits, I hope UVa sues, and sues hard. Put the money to the women’s center or female-only scholarships. Donate it to Yardley. Build a new building and call it Love Hall. That’s what UVa can do to make sure people remember…

Wahoowah

www.dailyprogress.com The local paper just summarized the newly released emails from UVa officials. Nothing major, but they show how upset Dean Eramo was about how she was portrayed by RS. Some boardmembers were upset that the U. was not more forceful in publicly responding to the story.
