Cvw?

Oh...No, he only applied to those two. He was writing other essays when the MIT EA came in the mail. He immediately canned all other apps.

Ok... Good luck to you too!

Haha, me too! I stopped applying after EA....all my friends were stuck doing apps all vacation; I felt kind of bad! I'm just happy I was able to save my parents all those application fees.

Dad2b:
My son received his invite to CVW on Nov. 8 automatically. He scheduled his visit for Jan 27. I felt that they wouldn't invite you if you were not a very strong candidate. I'm glad that it means something. Still, I hope they wouldn't invite kids and get their hopes up, then not give them the appointment. Do any of you know of someone who was invited for the weekend but did not receive an appointment?

My friend, who is currently at NAPS, received a CVW.

Navymom2b -
Ok...It takes too much time to figure out who is who sometimes and keep track of what everyone already has...so forgive me.

So, he has a CWV and a Triple "Q'd" letter? If so, I wouldn't sweat the CWV, especially if he attended NASS. Does he have a nomination?

Don't forget, the overwhelming majority of appointments don't go out until AFTER the congressional slates are complete (Jan 31 deadline).

Dad2b:
He got the waiver letter for his eyes (he previously had received a "waiverable" letter for his eyes, and then automatically got the letter saying he had been waivered back in September I believe. Next, I called his regional director at USNA because he had been trying to get ahold of him to ask him a question. I happened to call and got him. The regional director told me at this time that he had passed the CFA, been waivered for eyes, and had just passed the scholastic. We had not received a letter at that time for the scholastic part. We did receive one several days after that, Nov. 8.
He never did get a triple q'd letter, but individually he got notification for medical and scholastic. The Scholastic letter states that "this completes a major step for gaining an appointment to USNA but by no means guarantees admission." He received this letter on Nov. 8, but his invite to CVW was dated September 28.
So he was invited to the CVW before he was declared scholastically qualified. I don't know about you, but this whole process is totally confusing and tough to figure out. I should just sit back and quit trying to guess what is on their minds.
I figured that not much would happen until all the MOC get their noms in.
Yes, he did get his nomination from one of our senators (the only one who has acted so far) on December 16. Our other senator did an interview about a month ago but has not sent out noms. Our district congressman has not even notified my son as of yet about an interview.

Sounds like you have nothing to worry about...but that's what parents who really care do... ;)

Has your son sent school course/grade updates yet? This can be very important sometimes.

Your son's letter timings are very similar to my son's. You should plan on giving USNA a month or so to respond to that nomination status update. After all, the holidays played into all the delay also. The state's total slate may also hold things up but it will come...give it time and Best of Luck!!

Thanks. He had updated his SAT's and school grades as he has gotten them and plans on sending an update when 2nd quarter grades come out soon.
Maybe our kids will be classmates, who knows!

Gotta keep track of fellow Massachusettians...(if that's a word!)

Well, according to some Massachusetts and US Constitution documents...Massachusettensians is the term. Good luck pronouncing it however! :D

ooooo I like that better, more syllables! too bad you don't live in Boston, I could just used Bostonians! i'll have to add Massachusettensians to my vocabulary!

Shawna - That "Certificate of Accomplishment" was a nice touch don't you think?

The son got his finally today. :D :) :D

tell him congratulations! all coming together... lol

Thanks!
Oh...and he was born in Boston...so that would work... ;)

score one for Boston! (and "Bostonians"! - phew, something i can pronounce!)

<go pats=""></go>

candidate visit weekends are typically for recruited varsity athletes and people who didn't, for whatever reason, go to nass. these "drags" are coveted by plebes because when they are with us we don't have to chop and can act normal. When my drag (a swimmer) was with me, i had plebes in my company asking if she could walk with them to different places.

Wheelah, my son went to NASS and is not a recruited athlete, and he was invited.

yes to recruited athlete, no to NASS, yes to CVW. Who's to say!

my son went to NASS, was invited CVW and not a recruited athlete.

Same thing- our son went to NASS and already has an appointment but is going to CWV on Jan 27. So Only USNA knows how the invitations go. Congrats to all that are part of the class of 2010.

My son's plebe host at CVW went to CVW as a senior but was recommended for NAPS.
