CWRU Class of 2025 Official Discussion Thread

I think the reply was meant for someone else that previously posted that was unnecessary.

I surely hope so. I reread my comment several times to see how he or she came to the conclusion that I was being mean or questioning the admission process. There were so many comments focused on grades and scores …it seemed like some of the commenters forgot that students are individuals with interests and passions that are not necessarily academic but can still set them apart from the mold.

FWIW, I interpreted you response exactly as you describe it.

Can you share your D’s “super-power” as you call it? :grinning:

Community service and social justice issues.

Not sure how you interpreted my comments as you did but that’s the problem with online communication. A super power is something someone is passionate about or a skill they are good at that is not necessarily academic.

Sorry, just realized you are not the commenter that misread my comments! Yes, I agree with your interpretation as well

My PS was about my interest in combining alien biology with my drawings, I talked about using scientific designs and anatomy to explore my interests in extraterrestrial life.

They said, “P.S. I would love to see some of your Alien Drawings!”

Now that is a very unique interest! No wonder it caught their eye. Congrats!

Hi guys! Does anyone know anything about the CWRU scolarships and when they come out?

Ours came with acceptance letter.

Not the financial aid. I meant the full and half tuition scolarships that u had to do a separate application for

In the past, beginning April 1 Case will contact you weekly to see if you are still interested. So wait until you get an email about getting on the waitlist and respond in the way that they tell you to maintain a spot on the waitlist.

As to a Letter of Continuing Interest (LOCI) I would suggest writing to your admissions counselor (Contact | Undergraduate Admission | Case Western Reserve University) and letting them know that you would attend Case if admitted (if that is the case) and why you want to attend Case.

For example:

"Beginning April 1 and throughout the course of the spring, we will be in touch with you weekly via email to provide you with an opportunity to keep Case Western Reserve informed of your plans and your interest in remaining on the wait list. If we are able to offer admission to any students on the wait list, we will use the responses to these emails to identify interested students, so it will be important that you respond each week if you remain interested. When we contact you, I hope you will elect to remain on the wait list.

We remain optimistic we will be able to offer admission to a number of qualified students from the wait list. In recent years, Case Western Reserve has admitted as few as 40 and as many 800 students from the wait list. We have begun offering admission to students on the wait list as early as April 15, but offers are often extended in the final week of April and throughout the month of May.

As a reminder, all students who are admitted from the wait list:
are considered for merit scholarships (about 75% of the U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents who were admitted from the wait list last year received a scholarship)
are considered for need-based financial aid if they would otherwise qualify
are guaranteed on-campus housing"

I was notified about being a finalist for the Alexander A. Treuhaft Memorial Scholarship in my portal, where they also told me to set up an interview.

I’m assuming you would have also heard from them if you applied for a university scholarship? It was in a separate tab though, so you may have to do some digging, I’m not entirely sure though.

Ooh okay. When were u notified

On decision day, March 27th at 12PM. It literally gave me my scholarship decision before telling me I was accepted

Thanks. I was applied to Ea and I haven’t been in the portal since december but I don’t see anything. Rip.

@OSU95 My apologies for the response. There has been quite some unhealthy discussion going on here. As you stated, online communication could be challenging.
It’s nice to hear that your D got in. Congratulations!

Congrats to you and all who got in. I am among the lucky ones who admitted and my stats are similar to yours. I consider myself deserving too. My first thought, just like you was that there was something in my application that caught attention even though my stats are not as good as some of the waitlisted students mentioned. But later I realized that that is not what I believe but that is what I want to believe. I just want to be honest with myself. I believe I got the place and not some of them because they could not convince the reviewers, they would choose CWRU instead of the top choices they have.
This is self-analysis. Honest and never meant to offend anyone. Being honest is never unhealthy. My apologies if it gives some wrong impression.

I think some forget they can’t admit 1500 engineer majors. There is a point where your major plays a part as well.

I was under the impression that Case has a single door admission policy?

They do, but you still aren’t going to admit 1500 students who say they want to major in Biomedical Engineering. You are going to try a build a class of a variety of students.
But they don’t hold you to that major that you said you were interested in.
