I’m assuming for Engineering Physics, my first choice major…do they usually say what major you’ve been accepted into?
SAT: 1540

Decent extracurriculars…honestly nothing special though. At the end of my acceptance letter tho, it was like ‘P.S. I love the idea of Calm Club. Perhaps you can start it at CWRU!’ like do they always put personal things???

CWRU was kinda meant to be a safety for me. Honestly don’t know what’s up with the deferral.
@ithsenior I’m pretty sure Case Western factors demonstrated interest heavily in their decisions, though I don’t think they defer applicants simply because they are “overqualified.” Perhaps a combination of over-qualification and a lack of demonstrated interest leads to a deferral.

Interest:
Visited school presentation; Visited campus and interviewed (we thought it went very well).
CC: @Dehliwala What else can be done to show interest? ED? ED2? If that is the only answer, then what is EA for?
DC was accepted tonight. OOS ACT 31 , 98 GPA, very rigorous classes. 6 APS all 4s and 5s. Lots of leadership and ECs. Great essays. Did not submit any subject tests. Visited and interviewed. We are very thrilled with the $32,000.00 in scholarship. Applying for more scholarships to make this affordable for us. To future applicants, I think CWRU wants the total package. It’s not only about having the highest test scores.
Your daughter shouldn’t ED to Case when she has a good shot at better schools with these credentials. If she really wants to go and continues to show interest, I’m sure she will get in RD.
Accepted!
22k scholarship per year
ACT: 33
GPA: 3.7 UW
Major: Engineering
SAT Math 2: 700
AP: Chem - 3
EC: Not too many but I do have a very unique activity I’m very dedicated to.
Went to an info session they had in my area.
I have not seen hard numbers. But looking at Class of 2023 RD thread, it looks like most deferred kids were ultimately waitlisted. Not sure how self selecting those reports are though. .
The pressure is certainly on in the deferral letter to convert to ED2, which my s20 will not be doing. With his stats, he has two nice merit packages already. He really likes Case and would have attended if he’d gotten comparable aid (his grandparents and cousin attended). But ED2 locks him into possibly full pay.
Very unethical to defer a kid and say— but we’ll probably accept you if you commit to ED. The alums in our family are horrified Case would do this.

Deferred - Really bummed as the Naviance scatter diagram showed he’ll get in easily! I’ve seen so many deferrals this year… makes me wonder if they got too many applications for EA??

Highly involved in community including a national honor recognition for volunteering, lots of leadership activities at school. Had an interesting community service hook that may have helped. Did campus visit and interview.
Heartbroken that the numbers likely will not work for us but we’ll explore options.
