CWRU Pre-Med or University of Pitt. Pre-Med

Any suggestions?

cwru

Either. Which will cost you less?

Since I come from California, I am an out-of-state student of both schools. CWRU costs less. Do you guys think taking out $14,000 a year is a lot for undergrad?

It’s more than any three of my guys are taking on in loans - and more than I would want for a pre-med student. 56K in loans (perhaps more if you need living $$) and THEN starting med school?

Do you have other options? What can your parents afford to contribute? What’s your EFC?

I am transferring from a community college to an out-of-state university. So, I will only need to take out $28K in loans for undergrad.

Pitt can be good with aid, even tho it’s a state school (sort of), even to oos students. They like oos students from places other than MD, WV, NY, and NJ. Being from CA is perhaps a help. Only 34 students from CA enrolled at Pitt in 2010:

I don’t think the net price calculator for Pitt considers the likelihood of merit.

ah, you’re a transfer. that could change the Pitt merit picture, I don’t know.

28K is definitely a better range for undergrad debt IMO. Have you visited the schools? If CW is less expensive, I’d go with them. Either school is equally good for pre-med rep.

I have not visited the school because I do not have time during this summer. I think I may go to CW. Thank you for everyone’s answer.
