Cyber Security seems like an awesome field to enter. With that being said where could I go that offers a degree in Cyber Security. Ohio resident, 23 ACT, 3.6 GPA good ECs…only college that comes to mind is George Mason…any help would be nice
You may want to look at College of Charleston in Charleston SC. They have a 4+1 program with The Citadel where you can earn your Masters with a concentration in Cybersecurity. They have a very active Cybersecurity club, and currently have a collaboration between the Russian department and CS which seems very interesting .
Cyber tends to be a Master’s level application of CS (Wright State has a good program). One thing to check is how much your parents can pay.
This link provides info on scholarships and various Cybersecurity programs throughout the country.
Champlain has a very impressive cyber security program. We visited recently, and really liked the school. They admit a lot of B students, though they may want to see a higher ACT score. Do you have a record of having done well in computer-related courses? That would help. Take a look at their website. Good luck!
Penn State has a great program, but you’d be paying OOS tuition, so you need to weigh that against your other options.
If you are interested in actually creating programs/hacking I would recommend pursuing a Computer Science degree, and focusing advanced-level coursework on cybersecurity - it seems to offer more flexibility and will likely give you stronger programming skills.
@cameo43 Champlain seems like a good school, but it seems like it would be too expensive to go there
Get a CS degree, and take Cybersecurity at the Master’s level. University of Texas San Antonio has a strong masters program, for example.
If you wanted to stay in Ohio and there are a few private schools that have programs, including Wittenberg (Cyber Security) and Mount Union (National Security and Foreign Intelligence major and could double major with Computer Science).
