Cyber Security

Hi, I am contemplating getting into the Cyber Security field. I have an extensive record with computer security (internet mostly, not as much on network) and enjoy all parts of it (even the tedious parts of working with client guidelines). In any case, I have talked to my IT professors here and they have recommended I go into Information Security as a bachelors and intern as much as possible. I also have to apply for a few certifications.

In any case, my question was whether or not this field continues to grow and if it's possible to make a good amount of money. My ambition is to start my own security firm in the future and work in both the US and other countries (places like the Middle East, China, and India) for the government or businesses in general. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Any thoughts?

i don’t know about the field continuing to grow, it’s not really my area (i’m leaning towards a math major), but have you looked into the NSA internships? they have several for information assurance/computer science/mathematics/cryptography related fields.

[Internship, Co-op, and Scholarship Opportunities for Undergraduates at the National Security Agency (NSA)](National Security Agency Careers | Apply Now)

Hey Nanotech, thanks for your reply! The NSA website looks very promising, but I’m sure it’s a very competitive field :). I’m planning on majoring in Information Systems, but I’ve also heard getting an MBA with a focus on Information Systems Security or IT entrepreneurship is much better.

Any thoughts on this anyone? Thanks :)

I am majoring in Cybersecurity, and everything in my knowledge points to information assurance being a very successful field to go into.
