Have you considered calling the college president’s office and complaining? Seems like as an alum married to an alum and also having a kid whose a student there, you’d be listened to carefully. What the admissions office is expecting your D to do is flat out wrong.

How much is the deposit?

Do you contribute to this school on an annual basis? If you do (and if you would consider doing so in the future), I would stop contributions until the missed contributions add up to two times the amount of the deposit (to take into account your pain and suffering).

Sometime in the last day or two I saw at least one other thread where the financial aid offer for a student (taken off the wait list) was not released until the deposit was made. Unfortunately, I can’t find the post and I don’t remember the school.

I suspect part of this happens as finaid office doesnt want to evaluate until student comes off of WL. I still find it hard to believe they couldnt get file in shape for a legacy.

I agree with NSM, it’s time to play the alum card and call or email both the Alumni office and the President with your concerns. My D was, and still is, waitlisted at her top choice school but they were courteous enough to send an estimated FA package, including merit award, anyway. Glad your D is loving her second choice…sounds like they’re alot more interested in her too!

That is really horrible. I hope everything works out and I agree with the others that you should call the President of the school.

It’s a process. I think we will know more tomorrow and I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for all the support!

I keep on checking on this thread. I hope it works out for your daughter. I am a sucker for a happy ending. Please keep us posted.
