I got defered for business too.

there is also a highly possible chance that if you are deferred you will be offered a spot in LAS Economics and be able to transfer to business once you meet transfer requirements. If you do get this option it will most likely say "Offered alt. college" or something like that. I don't know how they're doing it this year but they will be offering that option to highly qualified applicants, I am sure.

i think i got in pre-business... i'm really not sure. it just says admit-college review.. and i applied for the college of business??

Huh I saw some guy go accepted into CS, well good for you

My daughter was accepted ibto COB

ACT: 30
Rank: 1/497
GPA: 4.0/4.0 (UW) 5.3 (W)

what puzzles me is someone with a 3.5uw gpa and 28 on act gets into engineering, but someone with a 3.6uw gpa and 26 on act gets rejected from las. hmmmm

"3.5uw gpa and 28 on act gets into engineering"

I had a higher uw gpa, a higher ACT score, applied to the same college for the same major as the guy who posted on the board, and I got deferred. Something sounds wrong here.

Numbers and Grades aren't everything

It also depends on the amount of AP classes taken and how hard the high school was

Canon, Cheezwhiz: I spoke to one of the retired deans from the Engineering at the UIUC (my family has connections :D) and he said that priority admission goes predominantly by grades and gpa. Apparently, essays and the other information you give them is only used last in the admissions process. I had great ECs, I've taken a lot of APs these past two years (7). There definitely is something wrong here.

Corporate: It is quite probable that many applicants had outstanding grades, etc., and thus essays and other information would inherently become key factors in picking out the admits over the denied.
