I’m a high school senior who has always struggles with math yet I decided to take an extra year of it. I am in pre-calc and I was concerned if San Diego state will rescind my acceptance of I get a d in that class yet still maintain above a 3.0 gpa. Would it be best to drop out of the class second semester of just say in it.
You can find SDSU’s rescind policy here: http://go.sdsu.edu/compact/seniorreview.aspx
“Rescind policy: Note that SDSU and UC campuses have a strict rescind policy. This means that your admission will be rescinded if you receive one low grade (D or F) in any A-G course taken during your senior year. The GPA required for admission into the UC system is 3.0”
As stated above, SDSU expects you to pass your a-g courses with a C or higher. You are at risk for being rescinded
Have you been already accepted? If so, contact admissions and see what options you have to maintain your admission
What if I get a c second semester?
If you get a C 2nd semester, it will validate the D from 1st semester, but the D will remain on your final transcript which you have to send if you plan to enroll. I would contact admissions and get their opinion since you still need to explain the D from 1st semester.
you should be working with the GC at your school. You are not the first HS kid to have a bad grade, rather than just letting it ride and hoping for the best the mature thing to do is address it now. Your GC should be there to help, and should talk to SDSU on your behalf. If not, then contact SDSU. Waiting until they see your final transcript in late summer will be too late if it turns out the grade matters and you could have made it up with a summer class.
