So i know that regularly in a csu they accept only grades from c- and above but what happens if you got a D in an AP class? Cause i know an AP class is weighted differently.
A D is a D, how are the rest of your grades?
If the D grade is in a a-g course required class, you need to retake that class to replace the grade. If you just want to take a lower level class, Honors or Regular, so your a-g course requirement is fulfilled, your D will remain on your transcript and included into your GPA calculation.
Is the D a final grade or just a 1st semester grade? If it is a 1st semester grade, a 2nd semester grade of C or higher will usually validate the 1st semester.
Retake the course if you can, and do better. My son did that and got into an excellent college.
well the rest of my grades are fine , AP us history thats the only grade i had a D in. The problem is its a bit too late to retake it. Im a senior and im soon applying to college. Would it be better to apply at less impacted colleges so maybe i can have a chance of getting accepted ?
Isn’t US history an a-g course requirement for CSU’s? If you do not fulfill the a-g courses, your application will not be considered anywhere. You need to retake the class as an AP or Regular to meet the requirements. If you received the D only 1st semester but passed 2nd semester, you are OK. If not, you have a problem and need to check with your GC. Did you get a 3 or better on the AP exam? This would meet your course requirement.
Here is the link on how to satisfy the a-g courses:
