D in a class

can you "pass" (go on to the next class) a math class with a D and receive all 4 credits?

yes, you will receive credit for the class in which you received a D in. However, you will not be able to move on to the next course because they require a C or better as a prerequisite. In addition, if it is required for your major, it is likely that you will need a C or better in that class.

Hey guys so I took Chem 140A last quarter and ended up completely messing up my second midterm since I had a family emergency and had to go home the weekend right before it. I studied extremely hard for the final because I knew I needed to get at least a C in the class, but unfortunately I ended up missing the C by 2 points on the final. I emailed my professor after seeing that I receieved a D and he said I did fine on the final it was just my midterm scores that screwed up my grade.

Do you know the policy on D grades for a science series? I’m still enrolled in 140B and my degree audit doesn’t say that I can’t take the class right now. I’m just confused as to whether I’m required to retake 140A or not since the prereq for 140B is the “recommendation of getting a C or higher in 140A”. I thought that since it’s just recommended it’s not required? I feel like I know enough of 140A to go on with 140B and I just can’t afford to move around all my classes. So do you think I’ll be dropped from 140B halfway in the quarter?

Thanks so much!

At above ^, you should go and talk to your College Adviser about that.

You will probably be dropped from the course with a W if you don’t do it yourself now.

Seriously, better to face the music now than halfway through the quarter.
