D in AP Calculus

This first semester I got a D in AP Calc and I’m worried that my admission for Humboldt state is going to be revoked. I looked at their requirements and they want 3 years of math and an advance course that requires algebra 2 knowledge. I took and passed algebra, geometry, algebra 2, trigonometry and AP Statistics. I’m in as a history major but I’m worried that the D is going to mess it up. I don’t know what to do. Should I drop the class or keep and try and get a better grade second semester? Also should I contact the college or wait till I send my transcript? Any advice.

CSU’s allow grade validation for Math classes, meaning if you get a C or above for the 2nd semester, your D is validated for the 1st semester. Since you have already met the Math requirements, you should be fine. Most CSU’s require that you pass all your a-g course requirements with a C or better in your Senior year to maintain your provisional admission but they are willing to work with you. If you are concerned, I would contact admissions to make sure.

You are fine for the math requirement in the a-g requirements (geometry and algebra 2 are sufficient, with the more advanced courses being a bonus).

However, check the conditions of your admission in your admission offer to see what senior year academic performance they expect. If the D grade falls below expectations (which it probably does), you want to contact them soon to find out what to do.
