D in AP Government, applied to UCs, what do I do?

In my first semester, I received my first D in AP Government. I have a history of getting all A’s in my social science classes, but due to personal reasons at the time, I was not able to keep up in the class. My GPA, however, still remains above a 4.0 and I’ve done well in all of my other classes.

So basically I was just wondering, do I still have a chance at a UC (Irvine and San Diego specifically)? And is there anything I should do about it now before admissions or wait to see how well I do in my second term of AP Gov?

Talk to your GC. They may be able to help even though you violated your requirement to stay above a D.

And work hard to bring your year end grade up.
