I’m a Senior in high school and I received a D in AP Government. In any way does that affect my admission to CSULB? What should I do in the mean time?
The Cal states require you pass your A-G courses with a C or higher to maintain your provisional admission. It would talk with your GC and have them contact admissions to see what optipns you may have. Most schools are not willing to rescind applicants, so you may just need to retake or get your 2nd semester grade (if it is a year long course) up to a C. Be proactive and do something now before you have no other options after graduation.
Unfortunately, I believe it will affect your chances getting accepted to CSULB. This link states that each course must be completed with a C or better: http://web.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/college_prep.html
Since you are a senior, it may be too late for you to make up the D. However, what is your UC/CSU GPA on your official transcript? I think if your UC/CSU GPA is impressive (4.0 range) maybe your D will be overlooked. Is this also the only D on your transcript? If yes, I read a post from 2009 (pretty outdated) that UCs at the time were actually accepting D- or higher. I don’t know if that comment is reliable now, but I think personally that you might have a shot somehow. I know HS graduates that been accepted to UCs with Ds on their transcripts, but it may depend on how many Ds are on there.
