D in First Semester AP Calculus- get rescinded?

Hello so unfortunately things didn't work out for my son and he ended up getting a D for AP Calculus AB first semester. The rest of his grades are as follows- B in AP world, B in Econ, A in APENG, A in ASB, D in AP Calculus AB, and an A in PE. After he knew what his final first semester grades were, he immediately emailed the UCSB admissions office explaining the grade and dropped out of AP Calculus into CP Calculus. He is earning a high B and working for an A as of this 3rd quarter in his CP Calculus class. He got accepted into UCSB, one of his dream schools, and so he followed up to make sure the admissions office received the email but they didn't so now he has to resend the email.

Will my son's acceptance for the fall 2014 term at UCSB be honored or will he be rescinded? ):
His 3rd quarter grades are:
A- AP World
A- Government
B- APENG
A- ASB
B- Calculus
A- PE

If he doesn’t get any more grades below a C and keeps his GPA up, I think he might have a chance of not being rescinded. I know some UC’s, like Davis, are more lenient about bad grades if they’re told far enough in advance. Just make sure you keep all communication open, and make sure you explain why the bad grade was received, perhaps due to a hardship, and hope for the best.
