D in math class junior year

i got a D- in Honors PreCalculus my first semester of junior year.

For second semester i am dropping to just regular PreCalculus. Will that validate and remove the D for the GPA?

If not, could i retake it first semester of my senior year and have it validated/removed or would the D still be counted in my college apps because the semester wouldn't have finished yet?

Also, if i was to just move on to Calulus AB senior year would that just validate and remove the D from my GPA?

Your GPA is calculated by your school, according to its own procedures. Only somebody at your school can tell you whether any of the steps you are considering would minimize the impact of that grade on your GPA.

It’s true that some colleges will recalculate your GPA according to their own procedures when they’re evaluating your application. But that’s some colleges, not all. And the colleges that do recalculate GPAs don’t all do it the same way.

retake the course/semester before your senior year so your new grade will be on your college apps (not sure if it will “remove” your old grade)
