Course types: 5 dual enrollment, 5 total ap, rest honors
Community Service Hours: 100
Extra-curricular: Not much, around 5 clubs that I barely ever went to…
Other: I’m sure it was my low gpa, as well as my “why you want to go to ucf” essay that I spent 5 minutes on, and weak E.C.s. My personal statement I felt was 10/10 though… oh well.
Term: Fall
Major Applied For: Studio Art
Date Applied: October 20th
Found out yet? Date: Today
Decision: Deferred
In State
Unweighted GPA: 91.8929
Weighted GPA: 94.7500
I don’t know how much that is in the 4.0 gpa scale but that’s how my school did gpa.
SAT scores: 1080
Course types: All AP and Honors Classes
Community Service Hours: Idk my school was really bad at actually giving us community service hours so we put in how many we liked. I said at least 80+ hours
I was a server at a Catholic Church
I was a Youth Leader at another church
I took vocational classes during high school for digital media design.
Extra-curricular: I was in Poetry Club and National Honors Society, that’s it.
Other: My essay was average I would say. I mainly talked about SVAD at UCF and the importance of having a connection with my professor. I also made a reference about Star Wars, which was nerdy of me.
I definitely think it’s because of my SAT scores that I got deferred. Maybe, I should retake it since it was nearly two years since I took the last one. I don’t know if I should call the office why I was deferred.
Community Service Hours: 100
Extra curricular:
-youth group
-National Honor society
-volunteered at thrift shop
-volunteered tutoring kids
-golden ambassadors
-Golden amabassadors officer
-Dunkin Donuts
-worked at chuys
-chorus MPA
-12th man
-chief editor of newspaper
Other: Essay was good, well at least my teachers and guidance counselor have told me. Retaking my SATs and ACTs.
@peagles I think if you can bump your SAT up another 50-75 points, you have a good shot. Also, if your grades are good this semester, send in an updated transcript.
@UCFin2018 I was thinking of emailing them and wondering what I need to do, and maybe asking if it’s possible to apply for summer rather than Fall. I’ve already called but the call was 2 seconds and they just told me to retake the SAT. Should I, or should I just leave it?
Community Service Hours: 60
Extra-curricular: NHS, history bowl, ambassadors (like a community service group), film club, and a foreign exchange program (through my school).
Other: I felt pretty confident about my essay, in which I talked about how my upbringing and ethnicity have played into my religious beliefs. Does anyone have tips for improving my chances other than retaking or taking the SAT and ACT? I’ve already taken it three times and don’t have the money to take it again. I know some people recommend writing a letter of interest or getting another recommendation letter. Any additional tips?
