<p>Depends on the school. Some have a great deal of influence.</p>
<p>From my experience, big sports like football and hockey will often help let in kids who maybe are not as academically qualified as the rest of the applicant pool. I'm not sure about small sports like squash or tennis, etc. It probably depends on the school.</p>
<p>I'm banking on football to help tip me over the edge at a d3 school too, so I may be a little biased in my opinions.</p>
