D3 Admissions

About such things – coaches can’t promise an–even if they are trying to be honest-- don’t know with any degree of certainty-- certainly not enough upon which to rely. That is a conversation to have with admissions either by the kid or the college counselor.

I agree, etondad. I take everything they said with a grain of salt. I believe it when I see everything in writing.

OP- any update for us?

I started this thread about 2 months ago, before the recruiting process started in earnest. Currently, my S is in contact with about 10 coaches via email. He has been on a few visits to DIII and DI schools (including NESCAC). We have several more planned for this month. So far he has gotten very positive reads from all the schools he has visited. He has sent transcripts and SAT scores to several schools. Although they all liked him, he was not so crazy about all of them and has taken a few off his list. Nothing in writing yet from any coaches. We have not officially applied anywhere yet, and we are still sticking to our plan of applying RD. There is a small chance things could change if one of his top schools convinces us to apply ED, and we can be assured in advance that the FA package will be favorable.

It’s an exciting, nerve-wracking process. Thanks CC for all your help.
