Congratulations!!!

Congrats! Where are you going to be working?

No news for me either.
Congrats @thousandfjords!

I received this via email today about the DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship:

This is to confirm that we have received your complete application for the DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship 2015/16.

In total, 153 eligible applications were submitted from colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada. DAAD is able to award a scholarship to about 20% of the applicants.

The DAAD selection committee will meet in mid-April after reviewing the applications and we expect to have the final results of the competition by mid-May. As soon as we have the results, we will inform you by email.

At this point we do not need any additional documents from you unless you get awarded the scholarship.

In the meantime, please do not telephone or email regarding the status of your application. However, if you do not receive a notification by May 18, 2015, please get in touch with us. Also, in case there are any changes in your email address, please notify me. Should you decide to withdraw from the competition, it is also very important that you inform me immediately.

:frowning: That sounds pretty bad… In that case even if I did get an award I doubt it would be possible to get a VISA in time…

That’s weird because they said they would tell us in March
I just want to know!!!

So do I. Honestly I start to think it’s better to know I’m rejected/waitlisted now than to wait for another few weeks… If I do get rejected hopefully my backup plan would work… but in that case I’ll have to stay in my city for another summer which sucks…

I just want to know because if I’m rejected I need to start planning my summer. Same thing if I’m accepted.
Does anyone know the last day they send out notification?

Hey @Biochick9 the people who got the waitlist e-mail have been told that the latest they will know if they receive a scholarship will be March 23rd, so I’m assuming every person will know the status of their application by then.

Honestly I totally agree with you, I really don’t understand why they can’t just send out all of the results at once and then reorganize things afterward if people decline their internship offers. :frowning: THIS WAIT IS AWFUL

@ponderosa61‌ I agree!!

I understand that they have to reorganize if someone rejects… but isn’t that the point of wait list? they can just send out all the acceptances/rejections/waitlists. At least it would be some sort of communication on their part instead of this waiting game (which is killer).

correct me if I’m wrong, but the undergraduate scholarship and RISE are different, right? Is anyone still waiting to hear back from RISE?

I think maritimer is the only one applying to the scholarship

Ah ok. If it’s true that they respond in order of popularity of an internship, I might have to wait a while. I think the project I applied to is fairly niche

@w0nderbread do you sharing where you read that they respond in order of popularity? I thought the project I applied to would be one of the more popular ones in my field

I actually saw it on reddit, but this confirms it:
https://www.daad.de/rise/en/11636/index.html#II9

under #11: “projects are ranked in order of demand, as indicated by the number of applications they have attracted”

@w0nderbread‌ I think that them ranking the projects in order of demand was just for determining which projects got accepted, but not necessarily for the order that the acceptances are sent out. My project seems like it might have been in lower demand, but I got an email on the first day (That said, I guess none of us really know exactly how popular our projects were though).

@ma8a23‌ I agree with you. I was notified fairly early of my acceptance, but it was for a niche project in a non-famous city. I would be pretty surprised if the project I got accepted for ended up being one of the most popular projects.

I’m waiting until 7am Germany time tonight, this wait is TOO MUCH.
