DAAD Rise 2015

UOIT in Oshawa, and yes the wait is brutal

Has anyone heard about the two Neurobiology of Depression projects (Berlin and Erlangen) or the NPC1 project (Rostock)? This is worse than last year.

the only thing that’s still giving me hope is that I have not heard of anyone get into the projects that I applied to :stuckouttongue:

@Biochick9 same! Ugh. I got an interview for the bio (crabs) project in Bremen and the PhD student said I was one of his top two choices, so now this “50/50” business is driving me mad. Holding out for tomorrow at 7am German time :persevere:

@ponderosa61 yeah I had an interview with a PhD student from on of the projects I applied to, but none of the others and I think it went well, except that I don’t know how many he interviewed with. I just would like SOME sort of contact from rise people so I at least know that they are still working on sending things out

Has anyone e-mailed DAAD to see where their application lies? Or would that be a risky move.

Alternatively, we can email the PhD students directly and ask if their projects are selected and if they already have a match.

@kinghter what program are you in? which jobs did you apply to? anyone else from UOIT?

I really don’t think they’d answer if someone emailed them unfortunately, but someone can try if they want! :no_mouth:

@biochick9 that’s my motivation as well! and @bioavailability I wouldn’t do that, they are probably very busy with the process already, it might backfire on you

@biochick9 Oh that sounds so frustrating. I know! I just don’t get why the emails have to be so spread apart from each other. I completely realize that it would be tons of work matching students up to projects, but I would so prefer a blatant yes/no/waitlist on March 15th or something than have three ambiguous weeks of checking my email every five seconds.

@bioavailability I emailed RISE last Thursday because I need to accept another position I’ve been offered by Friday. I didn’t get any response though!

@pomsky7 I think the DAAD office is either too busy to answer emails or they are not replying to any emails at this time. I sent an email two months ago asking how I should convert my GPA, never got any response

@pomsky Oh no! What are you going to do, just hope they email you by Friday?

^^ I meant to write @pomsky7

So glad I found this forum of people also anxiously awaiting! Hopefully tomorrow…

FYI they have an office out of New York which I’m pretty sure they run RISE out of. No need to refresh your email over night!

@inbedrightnow The only reason I think they’ve been sending the e-mails from Bonn is because many people have been receiving emails at 7-9am Germany time, which would be 1-3am New York time. I don’t think they’d be sending out emails in the middle of the night if they were in New York, unless the the emails are automated…

I had some issues with my application (created two somehow, think I sent professor two links was problem), and I had to call the Bonn office to get it all sorted out (didn’t respond to emails). So, I definitely think that Rise is run out of that office, plus that’s where they asked to direct all queries. I just hope that the Ph.D students considered my application and had not already chosen their candidates.

@bioavailability‌ I emailed them because western recently transferred over to a new mailing system and there’s been some problems, so I sent them an email asking them if an email had been sent to me or not, and I have yet to hear back from them
