<p>USC has a long way to go, but with their endowment it is feasible, especially given the Govinator's attack on public education in California. Of course, when USC goes shopping for entire departments then it might be difficult to hold off all that cash.</p>

<p>honestly, nobody in the academic world gives a flying s*** about USNEWS rankings. only people who really care are people NOT in the academic field (parents, high school kids, us college kids). Go to whichever school fits you best. This goes for any rankings comparison. This is mainly because the rankings are dependent on a variety of NONACADEMIC factors. look at the methodology for further reference...</p>

<p>Hate to break it to ya but life is about nonacademic factors. The rankings DO mean something, as students at the top of those rankings often have easier paths into selective opportunities.</p>

<p>pointless? if it was pointless, it wouldn't have gotten started in the first place.</p>

<p>the way i mitigate it is by having a general dislike of the school, but not of the individual trojans who go there for programs LA doesn't have, or people i know, or people who haven't done anything wrong other than attend the school ;)</p>
