<p>How difficult is it to get on the staff of the Daily Cal? I'm really interested in joining a newspaper or literary magazine, but I have no previous experience (my school didn't have a newspaper). Can freshmen be a part of the staff - and actually get published? How is it working on the paper?</p>

<p>Yes they can, and yes they can. Some people enjoy working on the paper, others not. Some people really put a lot of time into it, while others perhaps hours (6 or so?) a week. It depends on your position, what's expected of you, how long things take you. You can always try out, try it if you make it, and if you don't like it, quit.</p>
