I've been looking at schools around the Princeton area and would really appreciate your thoughts and insight. I know some are 1+ hour(s) away, so please let me know if they're worth the commute.

Princeton High School
Princeton Day School
Lawrenceville School
The Hun School?
Dalton
Collegiate
Hackley
Horace Mann
The Hill School

i think so – collegiate is one of the best high schools in the US (even i’ve heard of it, and i live on the other side of the continent), and HM and dalton aren’t too far behind. but they’re obviously ultra-competitive, in terms of admission, so… but in my opinion, i think it’s worth the commute.

i live like 45 minutes away from manhattan and one of my friends goes to a day school in the city but she BOUGHT an apartment in washington heights and lives there during the weekday so that she wouldnt have to commute everyday (very long). my dad works in the finnancial district and his commutes are so long and its really not worth it even though its a great school. plus theres always the risk your son takes the wrong subway and falls asleep and ends up in the bronx or brooklyn if he doesnt know the city well.

it really depends on what you think its worth, but collegiate is probably going to prioritize its applicants that are from the city instead of new jersey.

Plus I missed the application deadlines. Dalton’s deadline was in Nov. with Collegiate and Horace Mann shortly after that. The only one available now is Trinity, which I don’t think is worth going to specially since Lawrenceville is right next to Princeton. Besides Lawrenceville, I’m also applying to Princeton Day School and possibly Hun (I’ve heard some negative things about that, though – Any thoughts?)

I think my acceptance really depends on my SSAT score now.
