Does anyone else feel a 740 is like getting an 89? I feel as though anything above 750 is good enough, and 740 is soo close but not quite there.
ahhhhhh

oh well. i'm still happy-ish with my 740.
anyone in a similar boat?

I feel you bro...I got a 740 and I kinda feel like if I had gotten a 750 I would have been satisfied....

life sucks sometimes haha

Don't feel bad. A 740 is an exceptional score :).

Depends largely on the test, for one thing.
740 is amazing. But I understand how you feel. You seem to have a fairly reasonable stance: you acknowledge the 740 isn't actually bad, but can't help feeling a little disappointed.

A 740 won't hurt you. I certainly know people who got into top colleges with Bs on their report card, and I know even more who did it with SAT IIs <750.

The number of SAT II subject test taken is more important the actual score as long as they are over 700.
The following is an excerpt from "Winning the heart of College Admission Deans", to be considered an academic one(top) for Princeton,

[quote]
"A one", says the dean, "is somebody with five and six scores over 700(SAT and SAT IIs), mostly As, a 4.0 average, and at least twenty solids. A solid means an honors course, or an AP course, or the most competitive level within the department

Oh. I know.. i mean I got a 730, and after seeing people complain of their 750's and 770's , I want to retake. I hate this. haha

two 740s..right close to that 750 but not quite there..lol

Hah I know! It sucks. The somewhat reason-based part of me is saying 740 is perfectly fine, but the CC-obsessed ultra competitive part of me is ****ed..

me too..all my friends are mad at me, but then again no one else from my school goes on CC..

me 2 740 chem here

I know exactly what you mean! I posted basically the same complaint on another thread.

"I'm retaking my 740 Math IIC because I'm curious to see how I'd do if I actually study. Also, I'm thinking of applying to MIT, which requires a Math IIC score... and 740 probably won't look very good compared to the rest of the applicants (sigh). Sadly, though, if I had gotten a 750, I wouldn't want to retake it. I don't know why my brain drew a line between the two scores... but, ehhhh."

Yup, i got a 740 in WH and i was really hoping for something 750 and higher. But I don't think I'm goign to retake it. I"ll just take 3 sat 2's next year and do well on those.

740 = 88th percentile. Mom saw that and freaked.

Same as crispsoph here though: 740 WH. :(

I got 740 Bio, but that was probably due to the chromosome question set which i misread and mistaked for a human karyotype. The result was that I missed 4 questions in a rowwhich costs my 5 pts. Based on the usually strict bio curve, I probably would've gotten 790 if I read it right :(

Lol yeah we looked too. Except for chem its the 80th percentile I think. An 800 is the 95th percentile, suggesting 1 kid in every 20 gets an 800? That's ridiculous!

740 Biology :*-( 10 points off....
