Dan, I have a question about ACT Superscore. Please help. Thank you!

Hi Dan,
My daughter took the ACT 3 times and when you superscore, she really get a good ACT. Her scores are all over the place! The last ACT, the one she got the scores back today, her math went up from 24 to 35, but her science went down from 33 to 23, which is not even college ready! Her superscores are good, but it looks like she can't do well in more than 2 subjects at a time. She doesn't understand why this happens to her. She took pre-calculus over the summer and she said it really helped her on her Math scores, so we get why she improved so much in math.

Here are her ACT scores:
Dates taken: 09/10 - 04/11 - 09/11

Math : 24 - 27 - 35
English : 25 - 32 - 25
Reading : 32 - 26 - 27
Science : 33 - 25 -23
Composite: 29 - 28 -28
Superscore: 33!!!!

My question is: Should she send all of her ACT scores? The last one does not look good at all, but the Math is great, but we think she will get denied due to her last Science scores. We are very confused. She took 6 AP tests so far, and got 5s and 4s, got the AP scholars with distinction awards. She is applying ED. She really does not test well on the ACT and SAT. :(
Should she send all her scores? Does Tufts really superscore? Is this done by a computer?
Thank you so much for your help!

Oh Dan, where are you? Don’t take days off now. :)

Give people more than 106 minutes to respond.

Dan is often on the road doing HS visits this time of year, though he generally does check in periodically.

@Tuftstudent I know, right? :slight_smile:
@Countingdown. Thanks!

I was in India! So. Much. Paneer.

Always send all the testing. Always. There is never a downside to sending it to us, and it’s in our own best interest to give your daughter the best possible testing profile. You’re overthinking this a little bit - sending that third sitting won’t hurt her.

Thank you Dan!

Dan please talk about athletic recruits.

GoodFit - Thanks for asking this question. Your daughter sounds just like my son when it cimes to testing.

Dan- Thank you for responding! I’ve often wondered how this type of student would be seen.
