I'm very into hip hop and oil pastel but I'm not certain those are very strong at USC... is there a good dance troupe club? I'm not into the dance team-y or cheer leader stuff. Thanks for any information!

There are a couple of options regarding dance. There is a dance team like the Laker Girls called the Trojan Dance Force. They dance at all USC basketball games (both men's and women's). There is also another troupe called the USC Fly Girls: USC Fly Girls

Luckily USC is located in LA where even if you don't dance at 'SC there are an amazing number of opportunities to dance.

USC also offers a number of art classes through Roski School for Fine Arts. Here is a listing from USC's Schedule of Classes for Fall '08: FA | USC Schedule of Classes

thank you trojanchick! the fly girls group looks fun, i'm not sure about off campus options though because of the area.

There are several hip-hop groups. I believe they are listed on the USC club website accessible in the student life section.

i'm into modern dance, but I don't think that I will major or minor in dance. can students just take technique classes?

There is also a Dance Repetory Company at USC- I couldn't find a website, but I think they perform a variety of dance styles. This year they did a whole performance based on Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I got to see them rehearse, and it was awesome!

I think technique classes would be offered through the School of theatre. They give you some info. here (shift down and it says that classes are offered to all university students): USC Catalogue: The Schools: USC School of Theatre: General Information

You can also look here for dance groups: USC Student Organizations

Best of luck to my fellow dancers! :) I myself am really into the dance team/jazz stuff, so if I'm really lucky, maybe you'll see me dancing at a basketball/football game next year! (Except it's incredibly competitive and I have a LOT to improve on, so that's pretty unlikely...)

thanks so much gotrojans! I was wondering if how many times dance technique classes are held in a week and how long each class is? any info would be helpful!

dance technique classes are usually 2 times a week, an hour and a half each

at least, thus is the case for ballet and jazz i believe
