I know that there’s no audition to be a dance/theater major but on amherst’s website it says that “you should” send an arts supplement if you are planning on majoring in that. I am planning on double majoring in english & dance/theater. I was planning on doing my arts supplement this week, so that they would have a recent video of me dancing. Two weeks ago, I injured my back & can’t dance until like mid january, so I won’t be able to do an arts supplement, and I don’t have any old ones. Is it necessary in admissions to send the arts supplement? Is it going to hurt my chances of getting in that I don’t have one? Do you think I should indicate that I’m injured and can’t do it, and hope that’s okay? Or should I just not be a dance major and then declare it when I get to Amherst? But I’m concerned that they’re going to see all that dance on my application and think it’s weird that I’m not applying to be a dance major?
Email the admissions office and ask about your situation. Then plan from there based on what they say. Don’t worry! You will be able to work it out.
