Dance at Fordham

I am currently a senior in high school, and I applied regular decision at the LC campus. Based on my GPA and test scores I I will hopefully get in. I am looking to major in dance and I am particularly interested in Fordham’s BFA program with Ailey. However, I did not audition this past fall so it will not be an option for me my freshman year.

Does anyone know anything about transferring into the dance major after my freshman year at Fordham (given that I get into the school and the dance program). Do they allow for internal transfers? Would I be behind in credits? Fordham (even if not for dance) is my dream school but would it make more sense for me to attend somewhere I know that I can major in dance my freshman year and then try to transfer to Fordham?

I’m also not sure if I would even get into the dance program. I know that Fordham has an amazing program but does anyone know exactly how selective it is?

The Ailey/Fordyam BFA program is very very selective. I suggest you contact them directly with your questions.

I do not believe they take transfers, but as the other poster suggested, contact them first. They do offer a Dance minor (I believe), but minoring in Dance is challenging because the studio times are generally fixed and it’s hard to work academic schedule around it.
