Soo I love Vanderbilt, but I love dance (ballet/pointe) even more and really don't want to give it up once I leave for college. I know that Vanderbilt has a dance program, but I don't really know much about it.

Does anyone have any advice? Is the dance program any good? If it helps...ballet/pointe is my thing, but I also love/have done many other types of dance.

Thanks so much, as the dance thing is superrr important to me!

Here’s the link to Vandy’s dance program website: [Vanderbilt Dance Program | Vanderbilt University](http://www.vanderbilt.edu/dance/index.html) . As you’d expect from a school without a dance major (or even a minor), there aren’t as many advanced ballet/pointe classes as you’d need to be competitive with professional dancers. But it looks like a very fully developed dance program (45 classes offered per week in many disciplines, including jazz, modern, ballroom, swing, Indian dance, tap, Pilates - even belly dancing). It looks as if there are 2 or 3 advanced technique classes per week, a 1-hour pointe class, and a pas de deux class. There’s also the opportunity to perform with Vanderbilt Dance Theatre, which does ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop.

Since classes aren’t included in your tuition, there’s an additional fee, but it seems reasonable: $190 per semester for 2 advanced ballet classes weekly, or $275 for a semester’s worth of three classes weekly.

Nashville Ballet is just a few miles away, and I’m sure they must have open ballet classes for experienced dancers.

My d is graduating next month. She was an advanced level dancer before graduating from high school, and, although she never danced at Vandy, she was impressed by many of the dancers in their program.
