Dance College Search Assistance

My daughter has applied and some been accepted to the colleges below. She would like to be taught ballet and modern equally or at least close to equally. She wants a strong program and good academics.
Here is the list:

Point Park
Rutgers (mason gross school of the arts)
Mercyhurst
George Mason
Suny Purchase
Goucher College

Any opinions is appreciated.

you may want to head over and post this to the 'arts' forum in the majors section.

For academics, Purchase and Goucher are probably the strongest.

Did she audition for the BFA at Purchase? If not, you may want to find out how much dance is available for non-BFA students. At one school that my d was looking at (not Purchase), they said that non-majors couldn't take dance classes, so it's something worth looking into.

We also looked at Goucher. We were told that, for a major, dancers must get to the advanced level in both ballet and modern, and for a minor, intermediate level in both ballet and modern. So it seems to fit her "equal" criterion. And at Goucher, one can also take classes at Johns Hopins and a few other colleges in the Baltimore area.

Point Park is strictly arts-focused; academics take a back seat.

Are you also interested in some more schools that would be good for dance? You would have to give us some academic information about your daughter, though.

Do a search for dance within this forum and/or the college admissions forum. There have been two great extensive threads within the last eight weeks on dance, schools and programs. There were a number of options mentioned.
