Dance 'Duds' for Dudes

@buggirl74 one of the funniest moments I had was buying show makeup for my son (before he had any type of professional kit). We had some HUGE laughs at the drug store matching skin tone and picking out “guy” liner

Actually, I’d assume the moms on this site already know this since we’re dealing with HS/college-age dancers. But for the benefit of those with younger male dancers who don’t know, the dancer needs to move/adjust everything down there in a technique commonly known as “swoop and scoop.”

TMI, @skieurope, TMI!!!

As the mom of 4 sons, one of whom danced until age 9 and none of whom were athletes, I have to confess that I had never heard of the concepts expressed in this thread. I can only hope that someday there will be a Jeopardy answer that summons up this knowledge so I can show it off…

If you think that’s TMI @ChoatieMom, here’s the definitive guide to everything (more than everything) you would ever need to know about dance belts. But yes, all male dancers should wear a dance belt with tight fitting pants for a dance audition and preferably not for the first time at the audition.

@JaneyM: That site needs an editor NOW:

I assume it’s NOT the dance belt that is being passed down, but what do I know?

LOL @ChoatieMom! Yes, it is the technique that should the passed down, I hope!

Holy misplaced modifier, Batman. =))

^^^thank you all for the morning coffee chuckles!

Hysterical!!! Love this post!

If you’re interested, besides a dance belts, which my son has, I also found Duluth Bullpen Boxer briefs. They work well for jazz, tap, movement classes, and auditions. Everything stays tucked away and clear of injury. It gives him a break for his dance classes from the full seat dance belt.

@booknerdmom Thanks for posting that. I had to look those up. We just got a new Duluth in town, and I keep thinking I should go check it out. These sound very interesting. Santa likes to bring socks and underwear (among other things) to the stockings at our house so maybe santa will bring bullpen boxer briefs this year.

Ok that is the best name for underwear I have ever heard ?

Resurrecting this thread because I just laughed til I had tears…S who is a college freshman MT says something about a dance belt. 8th grade non-MT son asks what a dance belt is. His older brother breaks out the best explanation ever…“think of it as a bra for your junk”. Response…‘oohhhh’.

;))

Trust me. Compression shorts are the way to go. Easily available online
