Any dancers on this forum? My daughter will most likely attend Tufts this fall. She has been dancing for 10 years - ballet. She would like to continue her training, on or off campus. An insight on this? I think Tufts' dance program is more focused on modern.

I'm a ballet dancer, too. The dance department's ballet classes are pretty good. I've only taken one, as I do a lot of my own training by myself... but no disappointments yet! It is more focused on modern, though.

You can always look into auditing courses at the ballet conservatory in Boston. I have become less serious about my dancing (for better or for worse, I just found new interests) and didn't, but was considering doing so as a freshman at Tufts.

Do you know how much a ballet class at the conservatory would cost? Are they available to students by audition or do you just sign up for them?

I'm almost definately coming to Tufts in the fall and I just wanted to know.

Also, do you know about musical training in general? I sing and play violin, for example, and I would like to continue my singing at least with private lessons as much as I can. Do lessons come through the university or would I have to take them elsewhere? If they are available through the university, what is the quality that you get?

Don't know about the details re: dancing at the conservatory as I never did it myself. Do some research online :)

You can take voice lessons and instrument lessons at Tufts. Quite good, from what I hear, but I have no experience myself. CC poster "Bluirinka" can probably help you with this!
