Hey everyone. I'm trying to figure out my chances for the Danforth. I got the form after being nominated by my school and was wondering if someone could give me an idea of my chances.

Would be better if your scores were a little higher  just kidding.
They select 40 applications to interview and select 4 for full scholarships.
Will you be one of the top four out of 1600 incoming students in the Fall?
Safe to say it is like playing the lottery. GL

Are you applying early decision?

No, I’m applying RD. Will that make a difference for the Danforth. A good scholarship is really the only way I can go to WashU.

It could make a big diffence (could being they key word). But of course if you could only go on a big scholarship then you are betting heavily on getting the Danforth one, I know it is extremely competitive so I have no idea what your chances might be. Are you applying anywhere else early decision?

Well, I’m obviously applying to other schools and I have full ride to my pretty-good state flagship. It’s just that the only way I envision myself going to WashU is with a significant merit scholarship. Do they really giver scholarship consideration preference to ED candidates?

They dont give scholarship preference to ED applicants. The Danforth application is due Jan 15. If anything the ED applicants could be hurt because you are already committed to the school. You have to wonder what the incentive is for Wash U to offer a Danforth scholarship to a student who is contractually committed. An RD applicant is still undecided and could be significantly influenced if offered a scholarship.
