Danforth Finalists

Hey everyone, I thought that since we will be having some high quality bonding during scholarship weekend that we get some familiarity right now--and where better than college confidential?!

First off, Congratulations to everyone who was selected and condolences to all who were not successful. I myself was not accepted into the Medical Scholars Program, so I empathize and will besiege the financial aid office with medieval weaponry with you if you want.

Second off, why not post some background information on yourself and get this party started!

Hello! I will be joining you, but I have an unreasonable fear of stalkers, so I will be particularly ambiguous :)

Congrats!

hi!! I’m a current Danforth scholar and very excited to meet all of you :)

does anyone mind posting their stats? i am sooo… curious!

Here are the stats of someone who prefers to remain anonymous:

SAT-I: 2390
SAT-II: Math2-800, Chem-800, Bio-800
ACT: 36
GPA: 4.0 UW
EC: tons

Congrats!

Uh, I just want you to know that stats mean nothing and that I’m going to try and remain completely anonymous as well.

SAT I: 2390
SAT II: 800 MII, 800 B, 800 C
ACT: 36
GPA: 4.0 UW

@WhollyGib - Are we the same person? I think so.

Remember, Wash U superscores the ACT and SAT for admittance and scholarships.

My statistical…stats… are:

ACT: 34 (35 with superscript)
SAT II: 750 Math II, 730 Lit, 720 Biology E
W GPA: 4.05

Soooooooo, I stand out a little bit less perhaps in my scores and what not.

Your scores are fine. I really think that 32+/700+ is all the same. But then again, I don’t value stats that much. So, where are you all from?

I am from Omaha, Nebraska.

hey guys,

we’ll be contacting you guys hopefully in a few days to let you know who you’re staying with! unfortunately, we’re not allowed to tell you yet, but we just paired everyone up yesterday. Please dont freak out if 3 days go by and you havent gotten emailed yet or friended on facebook-- its only an estimate haha.

we can’t wait for you guys to come!

Rejected for both Danforth AND Medical scholarship… epic fail :(

I was shocked because my med essay was one of those essays where everyone was like “how could they NOT accept you?” I don’t mean to brag but it’s the best thing I’ve ever written.

Maybe it’s my stats? 730-800-680, 760 French, 780 Bio-E, 800 Chem

I wouldn’t think too hard on why you were rejected. With the number of applicants so high, it’s very difficult to say exactly why it is that someone got in while another didn’t. I believe they’ve told us (I’m a current Danforth Scholar) that on a different day it could have been an entirely different group of students selected.

Another current Danforth here, letting you know that we’re so excited for you to come visit! Congratulations to the Finalists!

My son made the call to reserve his spot and book the trip for March 25-28. He is excited. I guess they get back to him with flight info. Is that right?

OK, that took a lot longer than they said it would… but we just got permission to contact you guys! So NOW expect a call/facebook message within the next few days.
