if anyone is interested in the danforth application process...i am here to answer any question.

Yes, thank you, but don't know enough about it to ask questions. Last my son looked it was not online yet. Admissions said it would be in August and that GC needs to reccommend the student early in the fall. He gave is GC a heads up about this but beyond that we don't know what it entails.

181818 - In the past the Danforth application has not been on line. Your GC should contact the admissions office to obtain a nomination form. You can not apply for the Danforth, you must be nominated. Nominations are due at the start of senior HS year.

Perhaps what they him in admissions is that the information for GC's would be online in August. Does anyone know what the deadline or criteria for this scholarship is. I know that the student should have a demonstrated interest in attending WUSL which my son does. I don't know anything beyond this. My son's GC is willing to look into this but isn't familiar with it. I only know of one other std from our HS who has gone to WUSL.

Ok, so my counselor recommended this to me and she said she would be happy to nominate me for the scholarship. Do I personally have to fill out a separate application form and if I do, where can find that?

This scholarship is a little tricky, some HS don't get the information leaving great prospects out of the process. There is a form for the GC to fill out, very simple and plain, and every form received is followed by a package the student has to fill and send before the January deadline.
You won't get any online information unless you look for the HS websites, some of them post the form.

All you have to do is have your GC call the admissions office and request an application. The deadline is soon, so timing is important. The process is as follows:
1) GC submits nomination
2) Applicant receives packet from WashU
3) Applicant completes application and returns to WashU
4) WashU reviews applications, chooses semi finalists and notifies end of Januart to mid February.
5) Semi finalists are invited to all expense paid Scholars Interview weekend (end of March)
6) Finalists are chosen and notified shortly after Scholars weekend.

Aren't you from Duke? How would you know about the Danforth application process?

No - and I am very familiar with Danforth

I know ST2, and you can trust his answers to any Danforth question!!

Since WashU chooses semi finalists at the end of Jan-mid Feb, does that mean you receive your acceptance letter at that time as well? Or does the semi finalist title have no bearing on acceptance?

Edit: Also, for the rest of the packet your GC gets to give to you, what's on it? Essays, etc?

bamakid - You don't reveive your acceptance letter at that time, although for all practical purposes you can consider yourself to be admitted.

From what I remember, the packet asks for some basic info along with essays and recomendations. Both the essays and recomendations are very important, so consider them carefully.

Thank you for this information! This is great

my GC has nominated me but i haven't gotten the package yet...but in the package what do we have to write about in the essay? is it going to be similar to some of the common app essays?
