I was once told by an advisor that the SAT and GPA is what is taken into matter most importantly by college admissions. However now as a sophmore, I regret that I have not joined any clubs, despite Mu Alpha Theta, which I am not very active in at all. What should I do? Do Juniors join new clubs at the beginning of the year, and make the best of it? I will work as a hospital hospice by obtaining my license for the following summer. I have went abroad for communtiy service.
Please, I never been in such a troubled, worried state right now. The schools I am aiming for are top notch.

Do what makes you happy (and is smiled upon by college admissions officers).

happy? Frankly, thats not helping. I am worried by my serious lack of EC's.

Is there anything that really interests you? Almost anything you like can be turned into a great ec if you just think for a while.

I am interested in many EC's, its just that fact that I thought I didn't need any, that it wasn't neccesary. Do many Juniors join new clubs at the start of the year aiming for top schools?

joining clubs won't do ANYTHING

Yeah its not simply joining a club..its the difference you make and the effect you have and the interests/passions you actively demonstrate

Joining clubs is the initial to constructing a difference. Therefore with the lack of a foundation, I am seriously worrying.

Relax. If that's the most worried you have been, consider your life peaceful.

join now or forever hold your peace. just find what you like to do, and get INTO it. join as soon as possible, and get involved and ingrained in the club's survival and growth. germinate a club if it doesn't exist, nurture a club if it does.

You can't join during the middle of the school year...

Why the hell not? Just walk in the door and ask. Are they really going to be such pricks that they'll refuse? Having new members is something I always look for in the clubs I'm in (I've got a senior role in all 3).

If it's school policy, then become friendly with the club members anyway. That way you can just walk in the door the first meeting of junior year and be in without as much hassle or awkwardness.

Just make sure that the clubs you join are the clubs you want.

Unfortunately they are enderkin. Welcome to life.

You don't have any friends in any clubs? Nothing to get a foot in the door? A receptive teacher, coach? Nothing?

Yeah that sucks. Most people have EC's that they have been doing for years because they like it, like a sport or an instrument they play. 2 years of any EC you do will probably be meaningless unless you are gifted enough to somehow excel at it it from the get go. If all else fails, you can try to get a job during the school year. It looks pretty impressive to say you can handle a part time job and all your school work as well. When it comes down to it though, I think you should just find what it is you really love to do and do it. And do some community service. It's never too late for that
