Dang, I REALLY need to get a move on with these apps...

So I pretty much have lots and lots of schools that I'm applying to, and I wanted to add a few more matches. Wanna help me decide which to keep? I'll keep this brief...or at least try to.

Stats:
Caucasian, female senior in HS
Public School in PA

Intended Major - Either Humanities or Linguistics with minors in German and Latin/Classics

GPA - 3.81 UW 4.31 W
Rank - 1st Decile (top 10%)
SATs - 650CR 630M 670W = 1950T I took them again in October and aimed for 2000+, but I really need to start the apps now.
SAT IIs - 570 German, taking Lit, Bio, and US History. I blow at language tests. Will this hurt?

Courses 9th-11th:
English - All Honors
History - All Honors
Math - Honors in 9th grade, then dropped to "accelerated," plus AP Stat
Science - regular level all three years
Language - German 2, 3, and 4

Senior Courses - AP Biology, AP Economics, APUSH, AP German, Honors Humanities, Latin I, and Latin II (note: no math class or Physics senior year. They wouldn't fit because of stupid block scheduling, and I just really liked all of my other classes too much to drop any).

Recs: In short, my German teachers hate me, and my Latin teacher barely knows me -- so, no language recommendations. Will this be bad? I think I've got decent ones from a Chemistry, English, and History teacher.

EC's:

-National Honor Society
-won second place at the German Fallfest Competition at Millersville University
-scored in the 85 percentile on the AATG German exam
-working as a cashier at a supermarket for a year
- treasurer of Student Historians Club for two years
-worked with special needs kids and helped them do crafts/helped organize activities for them to do (during school for the past two years)
-"Walking Tour" I'm a tour guide for the elementary school kids (this year'll be my fourth). I take them to different historically significant landmarks in our town and explain why they're important.
-member of the Civil War Heritage Foundation (Civil War Reenacting organization) for five years

Schools I'm definitely going for:

NYU (CAS)
Emory
Case Western
Fordham
Franklin & Marshall
GWU
U Delaware (OOS, Honors College?)
U Maryland (OOS)
USC
UT - Austin (OOS)

Schools I'm considering...help me pick about two!!

Ohio State - Columbus (OOS)
U Chicago (bahaha, I know, mega-reach, but I absolutely love this school!)
Hofstra
U of Washington (OOS)
U of Georgia (OOS, Honors?)
Boston U

Em, okay, so that wasn't very short >< But thanks!

I don't really know about the colleges you are talking about, mostly because I'm Engineer-guy. But your stats look very similar to mine, and I think Georgia Tech is safe for me. (U of Georgia, u will get in. It's not much of a 'For Genius' school)

Yeah, UGA doesn't really seem like the most stellar school on that list. Since I've already got Emory in GA (though it's not too likely that I'll get in there), I might just cut UGA and try to figure which of those other schools to add. Thanks for the feedback.

NYU (CAS)-match/good chance
Emory-reach
Case Western-match
Fordham-not sure...high match?
Franklin & Marshall-again...not sure sorry
U Delaware (OOS, Honors College?)-in
U Maryland (OOS)-in
USC-not sure about this either sorry
UT - Austin (OOS)-in, I believe (don't know too much about it)

Ohio State - Columbus (OOS)-good chance/match
U Chicago-reach but apply EA and see :)
Hofstra-don't know anything about this school...sry
U of Washington (OOS)-match/good chance
U of Georgia (OOS, Honors?)-in
Boston U-match/really good chance.

The only thing a bit low is the SATs...try ACT maybe? :) also, that lack of a rec won't hurt, I mean, the college understands if YOU know someone knows you better so thats all that matters

I'm only really familiar with NYU, Emory, Case Western, Fordam, USC, and UDelaware out of your applied schools.

I think you're matces/high matches for all with the exception of Emory. That's a bit of a reach, but you're not out of the running.

As for the schools you're considering, Ohio State and BU seem like they're matches. UChicago is a reach, but I think you already know that. ;)

As for Hofstra, I don't know how familiar you are with it, but don't bother! It's a local commuter school around here. My school sends about 30% of the graduating class there every year. It's terribly mediocre as far as academics go. With your credentials, I'd aim higher. The campus at Hofstra is pretty and sure, they're holding the debate there tonight, but the area isn't too hot. Personally, if I apply there at all, it'll be as a safety.

Thanks for the input. I was definitely leaning more towards Ohio State, BU, or U Washington than the others. I think I might add two of those (gr, which do I cut?) and EA Chicago for the heck of it. They don't defer applications for EA, do they?

What do you mean by not derering applications?
I mean, I believe if they don't accept you, you're more likely to be defered than rejected which is alright because you can send in more information like new scores or more rec letters

That's what I mean...do they still consider your for regular admission even if you don't make the EA one? For example, if you go ED to NYU, and you're rejected, then that's it.

B-b-b-b-b-b-bump?

Bumping again. Any other input?

Not even a slight chance of being admitted to the Univ. of Georgia's Honors College in my opinion. Chicago is a reach, but you should apply so that you have no regrets later in life.

Really (about the Honors College)? It wasn't really one of my top choices, so I don't mind. Yeah, I'll definitely put in an early application for U Chicago.

Bumping yet again. How about UT Austin? Isn't it more competitive for an out-of-stater?

Gah bump! Can anyone tell me whether or not you're still considered for Regular Decision at Chicago even if you've been rejected EA?

And if anyone has any more information on UT - Austin as far as admissions for OOS folks, it would be much appreciated.

I am not familiar with Emory however, for all the others you are a match except for USC simply because you are oos. Although it is a private, much of its student body is comprised of rich LA kids. It's a horrible stereotype, I know, but for someone who lived in LA, I have the right to say it!

Bah, really? It seemed like a really nice school to me! And LA doesn't sound terribly bad.

It is, LA is great. It's a big city with a lot to do and tons of opportunities.

Haha, oh, okay. I sort of misunderstood then. Maybe if my SATs increase by...a lot...then maybe I could get in. Either way, it's not really one of my top choices, so no biggie. I'd much rather go to Chicago or NYU.

UT is pretty tough for out of states. You only have to be mediocre as a Texas students to get into UT with the top 10, so most spots are filled by Texans leaving really competitive OOS students to fight for the leftover seats.

Dang, that's what I figured. Any idea if I'm a match/reach or anything for them?
