<p>it really sucks because if you take an ap class at my school, you are required to take the ap exam. and if you know you are going to fail (ap stats), then its really painful to have to turn in that check for nothing.</p>

<p>Florida pays for exams for AP classes in which you are enrolled, which is pretty sweet.</p>
<p>However, if I want to self study, I have to pay the fee for the exam.</p>
<p>With grants (inner city school and all) I only have to pay $8 per exam, even the ones I'm self-studying (just Spanish this year...) Woot.</p>

does your school really have that much leftover money?</p>
<p>I think our school might even pay for tests we self-study for. No one ever really self-studies though, so yeah...</p>
