Haha this site is horrible. I constantly am on here but at least I am more informed than I was.

This is what compels you to fall in love with safety schools! :D

LoL. Same here... Atleast your informed of your ''competition'' sort of speak.
This site is sadly addicting.

is this site really a true depiction of ivy league admissions? because EVERYONE i see here have near perfect sat scores and exemplary EC's!~~~~

I used to be like that.
Then I got over it. not sure how though...

Yeah, the site makes me feel really dumb. But remember that it's online and I'm willing to bet that atleast 1/10 people here BS on their stats.

^Probably even more than that.

That's the problem with the internet...you never know who's telling the truth and who's not.

In a way it's a blessing. I'm glad I got over my optimistic/naive stage of college applications at the end of my sophomore year as opposed to spring of senior year.

I almost feel sorry for my friends who believe wholeheartedly that being in NHS with a 4.0 will get them into any college in the country. It makes me sad, though...they're such amazing people, and deserve to go wherever they wish (i.e., Stanford).

As for myself: It's motivated me to work harder and not get too complacent with grades, ECs, anything. Will I still apply to an Ivy? Probably. But now that I have a more realistic idea of my chances, I can prepare myself for the "crapshoot" and hopefully fall in love with an awesome match school.

Hell YEAH! But, i just got used to it, and try NOT to look over 'certain' sections of CC! And thus became addicted to the Cafe...

Huh sometimes... not all.. but some...

Like I remember this one time I was looking at the chances thread (as usual) for Wharton school of Business in UPenn (my dream) and this kid had near perfect scores, and awesome grades, and that was all cool until I read.....

Research on neuroscience.

ACTUAL research. Applying to business school. why???? why do science people have to ruin the chances of business kids like that? why?

so yah, thats what went through my head. lol

lol!.............

yeah, I have to agree w/other poster. I was really really really naive about life at the end of 8th grade, and thought oh, my brothers got in, it'll be no issue!
it really motivated me to work really really hard my freshman and sophomore year...it's making me feel a lot better about my GPA. Instead of an uphill battle the hardest years like some of my friends (one of my friends is Freshman: 70, Sophomore:87), I already have study policies in place, and have SAT II's mostly under the way. Also, I heart the prep book suggestions, otherwise I'd have no idea.

When I first read someone considering retaking their 2380 on the SAT, I thought "oh boy, what kind of monsters are these people?" I sometime think some people here must live in a different dimension where a day is 40 hours long.

the fact that you use the word "exemplary" makes you one of us

Actually, CC kind of worked in reverse for me. I really hadn't considered Ivies until I came to this site. I thought they were way too expensive and just not worth it. I had actually been considering the community college as one of my top choices because it's free. Then CC happened, and now I have 2 Ivies on my tentative list.

I had thought that top schools would be impossible for me to get into, but then I came onto the High School forum and learned that my situation is much different that normal applicants, so that would be at least a minor hook. The fact that my school sends no top grads to top schools ever almost has to work to my advantage somehow.

@Metdeth: I'll probably be one of those. I'm planning on two more years of research projects in engineering, and I'm very seriously considering Business schools. Engineering just seems so daunting (there's where the real CC effect kicked in).

Meh, just find something you like to do, and find a way to get paid for it.

^JBVirtuoso...it was great to hear that you've benefited a lot from CC (not saying that others don't!). :)
