Darn, I've missed my school's AP registration date

Okay I admit, I'm not as calm as I may sound.

I have changed my mind about whether or not I should take the two AP tests that I planned on taking this year, but I did so ONE DAY after registration at my school closed. The coordinator at my school refused to allow me to register.

Now I've been advised by my friends to call the AP (department?) at the College Board directly, but unfortunately I live in NorCal so I'm 3 hours behind the office's schedule. The website says that there's a number that I can call to get the phone numbers of AP coordinators in my area who are willing to let me test in their schools, but this number is for homeschooled students, special students, and students whose schools don't offer AP. Should I call this number? The website also stated that the deadline for making the preliminary calls to get the numbers of the coordinators had not passed yet, so I guess I still have a little hope?

What should I do?

Call the number if you really want to take the tests.

Ps, you live in Fremont? What school do you go to?

Get the retake for 40 bucks.

Don’t worry the collegeboard will be happy to take your money no matter how late you are.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I don’t doubt that the College Board would be happy to take my money, but is there a good chance that they would actually do so? There’s no policy against what I’m requesting or something?

@MarineBioSax- What do you mean by the “retake”? I haven’t taken these two AP tests yet.

No by retake, i mean they’ll let you take the test at a later date if you missed the scheduled day.

^^

Oh thanks. But my problem is that I missed the registration deadline (which was three days ago), since it isn’t May yet, I haven’t missed the actual test date yet (and I don’t intend to).

Have you considered taking the tests at a different school?

I never said that, lol…

LOL sorry MarineBioSax, I meant to direct my statement to the other replier (Daxlo5)

And WartsandAll, taking the tests at a different school is what I plan on doing. I just need to know how to go about registering for those tests

Contact the administration at local high schools and ask them to refer you to their AP Coordinator. Talk to that person, explain your situation, and ask to let you test at their school. If they’re wary about it (especially if they have to set out a room just for you for a test or something), you could always bribe them and offer to pay an extra fee or something.

@31459265 (may I just call you “Pi”?, haha)

Thanks for the advice, I’d like to know if this idea has been field tested by someone. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea or anything, in fact I’m probably going to take your advice once Monday comes around (and I’ll try contacting College Board as well).

I’m planning on taking the AP Chinese test at another high school that offers the class & test because our school doesn’t have the software installed.

^^

But that’s a legit reason to take the test at another school, my school offers the two tests I want to take, but I just missed the deadline.

If the College Board (or local AP Coordinators) don’t ask for an explanation, then I can get away with it I guess…
